A Shutterfly package containing my Xmas cards was delivered correctly to Guilford, ct. ( my post office!!) and then routed to Berlin, New Hampshire. What happened? Also box sent from Madison, Ct to Guilford, CT still has not arrived more than 10 days later!!!
Every single time and I mean EVERY single time each of the employees great you with a warm hello and smile. They work so hard and quickly as possible and make each person entering the post office feel welcomed. They always go the extra mile to help with all sorts of things. They are patient to help you get the best mailing option for your parcel. They care about how you intend to ship things and even offer suggestions to help your shipping cost less money. The staff is welcoming, friendly, caring and it is always a pleasure to enter the Guilford post office.
There was an issue with a delivery not being able to be delivered at my house (not sure what the issue was). I spoke with Liz at the Guilford PO and she confirmed my package had not been delivered but said she would drop it off on her way home. When I indicated that it could be redelivered the next day, she said no problem she would do it today. I was truly impressed - than you Liz!
Liz at the Guilford PO station could not have been more helpful. She really went beyond the call of duty to help us with our problem regarding our mail issues.
I just finished reading the earlier reviews from some other customers of the Guilford Post office on Water Street and I have to say I feel somewhat vindicated based on my own difficult recent visit to Guilford PO. I wondered was it me? Was he just having a bad day? I try and pride myself on being courteous to all that I encounter throughout the day but unfortunately I wasn't met with the same. What I got was a male employee that was both condescending and rude, never mind completely unhelpful. It was as if he was trying to spar with me and it was a game of oneups man-ship. Very strange!! This employee hardly let me get a word in edgewise before cutting me off with his condescending words, tone and body language. I was so taken back and embarrassed by his behavior towards me especially in front of a long line of people, that I ended up just leaving with out the assistance that I had come for. Initially I chalked it up to a one off and left it at that but when it happened again I knew that the problem was not me. I now avoid the PO in Guilford opting to go to North Branford or Madison instead.
I have to agree with the comments below. Nothing has changed. Today, I went there to buy Christmas stamps. I waited in line for about 10 minutes. A certain man working there was definitely chatty. I initially thought he was a friendly person. When it was my turn, I knew people were behind me so I thought I was being efficient by asking for three different sets of holiday stamps. He rudely cut me off and corrected me with condescending tone Anyway, it made the situation very uncomfortable from then on. I will drive to Durham to avoid future occurrences.
One employee who works at this post office was very rude to me once when the lock on my po box was broken. She didn't seem to feel it was her responsibility. I once mailed a registered money order from this post office for over 300 dollars which was never delivered and never returned to the post office by the mail carrier. I never got the money back. The money order just "disappeared" apparently, as none of the employees at this post office could give me an explanation as to what happened to it. They are very "folksy" at this PO, spending lots of time gossiping with the locals who come in to waste time because they are wealthy stay at home Guilford men and woman who have nothing better to do. Too bad the employees couldn't be as thorough about doing their jobs as they are about discussing the minutiae of their customers' lives in terms of whose child got on the honor role or the local sports team, or is going to college next year, etc. This is probably one of the least efficient and most backwards of any post office I've been to in CT.
I absolutely agree! We just moved to Guilford from another part of the state and I cannot believe the inefficiency, the carelessness and the lack of decent service at this PO. I have had mail "gone missing" for weeks (or never to receive it at all) with no a word of concern from any of the postal workers; I have been told to "find another post office" when I asked about the lack of certain stamps, and I have waited in line for minutes on end as the workers dallied with the older locals talking about nothing. I am going to report this PO to some higher authority and have an investigation set up into the horrid service at the Guilford PO.
