Here's your feel-good story for a cold December 2024 day about a postal carrier in Downers Grove:
My husband discovered a large amount of broken glass at the end of our steep driveway on 55th Street and attempted to pick it up; a rather daunting task for someone physically unsteady.
The mail carrier saw him, knew that I would scold him for doing this, and kindly assisted him by sweeping up the glass herself and putting it into a trash can. In my opinion, she saved him from a potentially hazard situation so close to the busy street.
She always is careful and thoughtful with our mail and we get handfuls at a time!
I recently learned her name. I appreciate her going above and beyond and showing great concern! Happy Holidays!
Dear Ladies and Gentlemen,
I have been going to the Downers Grove post office for many years, and I have never seen it this dirty.
The floors need to be washed, the rugs vacuumed, the counters washed with soap and alcohol, the doors cleaned, it looks very dirty in there.
If you need any help, please reach out, and we organize a Community project, but Downers Grove cannot be represented in this manner.
It shouldn't be a problem to get your employees to help out if you can't find a cleaning crew, vacuuming a rug, washing the floors, wiping the counters and cleaning the doors, if everyone helps out, will be a 1-hour job and you have an excellent working environment.
I don't even want to come in anymore, because the place looks terrible. Please do something about it.

Went to have taxes done recently but couldn't finish them because I haven't received mail I normally have at this time. We get mail 3 times a week if we're lucky, what is going on? Is this a temp problem or the new norm?
Delivery service is terrible! Totally unacceptable. If I do a hold mail it never comes on the date requested until I leave a nasty note on the mailbox. Now we have not received any mail in 3 days again and I did not do a hold. Can't get through to the post office.
We can’t keep using because of COVID we don’t get our mail or don’t provide customer service. Everyones business is saying because of COVID. Just say people don’t want to work and nobody wants to provide customer service. We go 3/4 days without mail service and the post office is less than a mile away. I give 0 stars. No stars for service and delivery. You guys you to be so good !!!
When I started to approach the desk, I noticed that the employee working behind it did not have her face mask over her nose -- just her mouth. I asked her to pull it up before I would approach, but she just tugged it a bit and it fell right back down under her nose. I WOULD have changed lines, but the girl working next to her was also wearing her mask improperly. Do these people not know where their nostrils are? All it would take would be a sneeze and there might be Covid-19 droplets everywhere in that small room. Why should the customers, like me, have to be the ones to point this out? More importantly, why should our lives be threatened by public employees who are supposed to be serving us?
I was at the DG location today and the African American woman ghat works there is absolutely the worst. Always not pleasant. I there almost every day right now with having to ship items. The postal worker told a lady there to wait by the counter a few down for picking up a package... meanwhile she goes to the one right next to the the one the postal worker is checking people out. I was standing not even a foot from this lady while putting in my credit card and checking info for packages... meanwhile spending a ton of money! I nicely asked the lady if she could move down a couple (which the postal worker told her to do in the first place).. she then said “she told me stay here!” And I said “I’m sorry... you’re just so close and not 6 ft away” and the postal worker said to “it ok, you can stay there!” Instead of making it safe for me, she belittles me! Every time I go to this post office, the wait is long and she is SO rude! All she had to do was ask her to go to one of the 4 OPEN register areas where people USUALLY drop off but instead, she makes me feel like an idiot trying to stay safe!!!!
I would like a response from this as I’ve been trying to call the office with no answer!

So tried of it. So much mail does not belong to me.
My information is clearly displayed. U can't do anything to else. Just hopeless 😔 and disgusting.
Supervisor Ali has given me trouble about my Hold Mail requests. First he said I could only do a hold 3 times a year. Now he says they didn’t receive my recent request to hold my mail... yet I have received notice of two pieces of my mail ARE being held at the PO. He needs to be fired, he’s incompetent. Downers Grove PO also does not answer their phone.

12/12 Ali (I think correct name) was at our senior bldg. and we are not allowed to let anyone in ....So the nut pushed the emergency glass and broke our door...then he looked around at all of seniors and was very rude. He should be fired!!!!
