On July 3, 2023, I paid $29.45 for a package containing a small amount of dog cremains to be delivered to a memorial company in Washington state, delivery due on July 5. (Cremains can be sent only via the USPS because UPS and FedEx will not accept them.) The following week, there had been no delivery and the online tracking showed only that the package had been received at the 21209 PO but nothing beyond that. I went to the PO on July 14. They looked for the package and found nothing. The window lady told me that the PO could only give me a refund in cash and that they had no cash. The supervisor got involved and initially told me that they couldn't give me a refund until the package was delivered. I said, "Suppose it's never delivered? According to the tracking, it's still here." She then told me that they could refund the money if they had cash. I was to call the following week to see if the package had been located - they were going to check with the next facility down the line. The supervisor told me to call the following week and ask for the supervisor. I called the following Thursday at about 3 p.m. and no one answered the phone. I went to the 21209 PO again on Saturday July 22 and was told, again, that they had no cash and could only give a refund in cash. It was suggested that I try returning later in the day in case they had cash from customers at that point. It was also suggested that I return on Monday to talk to the supervisor, who doesn't work on weekends, and that I go to the Roland Park PO (21210) because that PO might have cash.
At the Roland Park PO, the very helpful lady called her "lead" to ask for advice. She was told that the PO can also give a refund in a postal money order (although the customer can't deposit the money order for a day). As it happened, she did have some cash and was able to give me a refund in cash.
In short, I give up on the 21209 PO.
There was only one open guichet. The clerk was proceeding a passport application. After waiting 35 minutes in line, I attempted to purchase 5 "global" stamps. The clerk told me that they had run out.
Why was there only one clerk? Why was she proceeding a passport application in a guichet? Why was there no "global stamp" in a post office. I will never go there again. FYI this happen at 11:30 to 12:15 on March 15th, 2023
This post office is terrible the mail man sends mail back he doesn’t come to deliver the mail until after 5:00 I have put that the person doesn’t live here and send mail back he continues to put the mail in my mailbox they never answer the phone
I've had a couple of bad experiences with this post office. On 2 occasions, the USPS notified me that my packages had been delivered. They had not been delivered either time. Staff seem to notify AMAZON that packages have been delivered ( on time ) even if they are still on the truck. I loved it when they notified me that my 30 pound space heater had been left in my little mailbox!!! I also went there to send a package. They weighed the box and quoted me such a high price that I left and went to the Pikesville Branch. At the Pikesville branch, the same package weighed LESS and cost LESS to ship. Very unsatisfied lately with the Mt Washington Post Office!!! • • •
The worst deliverers ever. Too lazy to open the mailbox so she left a small package sitting on the floor IN AN APARTMENT BUILDING and of course it was stolen. I asked her why didn't she put it in the box, she said "it says in or at the box so I left it at the box." I said even though it's small enough to fit in the mailbox!!! "Um, ma'am you can call the person who sent it and let them know you didn't get it." I wanted to kick her in her lazy @$$.
Generally this is a really awful post office. They stopped leaving me notices for my packages when I wasn't home about 8 months ago and even though I have filed a formal complaint, they continue not to leave notices. This has resulted in some of my mail being sent back to the sender because I was unaware that it was even supposed to have shown up. Most of the employees are visibly in a bad mood when I visit the location, and they aren't particularly helpful. Sometimes one or two of them is friendly, which I owe them credit for since it's refreshing, but generally I walk in there expecting to deal with grumpy people. I would say about 10% of my experience here has been positive with the remaining 90% fairly negative. I appreciate the work they do and I know it's probably not a fun job, but this post office usually leaves a bad impression on me. Thanks to all the employees who put a smile on and try to help though, they really stand out here.
They lost a package of mine once a year or so ago. Now Ive been trying to get another package redelivered for the past two weeks to no avail. Probably lost that one, too...
Attempted to call to confirm services provided at this location. Began calling at 12:45 on Wednesday, could not reach anyone by 1:00. Perhaps among the problems faced by USPS includes adequate customer service, and enough employees to provide such service.
I just called today around 1:00 and the lady on the phone was really rude and I was rushed on the phone, was not finished with my questions and was hung up on. Really disappointed with the customer service.
