I put a piece of outgoing mail in my mailbox SECURELY and after the mail truck came I saw it down the street in the curb! Unacceptable why is this happening

I live on Main St. Packages too big for the mail box are normally brought to the front door. A package was left next to the mail box at the street today it was stolen. Unacceptable
