I think it's a disgrace that the Vernon, Texas postal facility is not open for retail service on Saturdays. It's bad enough most businesses (that offer assistance...not restaurants) close up for the weekend, and doctor's offices are closed are Friday's (for some insipid reason), but our post office not only is closed on Saturday (which used to be open till 11/12), doesn't even remain open till 4:30 during the actual work days they are open. They once did. You know, not every person living in this backwards town works banking hours....or should I say government hours. They work 8 to 5. So a Saturday is the first and basically the only day they have to get their chores done. It shouldn't matter that business on Saturday isn't busy. That gives them their reason not to open. You work for the public....you are a public servant. At least that is what I understood. And yes I'm very well aware you start your workday much earlier than 8:30am. Then hire someone part time for Saturday and the 30 minutes or one hour longer during the work week. I'm sure I'm talking to a brick wall. And if this is posted publicly, this is my opinion and I don't need any do goober of Vernon to defend this "government" facility. This is so typical of our government.
